Beatles Session 2 - Friday 16th May

Hello all!

Tomorrow night is the second in a series of sessions focusing on the music of The Beatles, both group and solo.

Further details on the first sessions and the series can be found here.

The dates and replay times of this session are:

Friday 16th May, 9PM (GMT)

Sunday 18th May, 6PM (GMT)

Wednesday 21st May, 2AM (GMT)

Thursday 22nd May, 11AM (GMT)

Hope to see some of you around tomorrow - I'll be posting information and details about the tracks during the show tomorrow in this thread.

Evening all Cheesy

Info on the tracks will be coming in bite-sized chunks.

The first track is 'Baby You're A Rich Man' which was featured (briefly) in the movie 'Yellow Submarine' and on the album Magical Mystery Tour. This song started life as two different songs, John Lennon's 'One Of The Beautiful People' and Paul McCartney's 'Baby You're A Rich Man' chorus (similar to the way A Day In The Life and I've Got A Feeling were put together).

The next 0 tracks, beginning with Two Of Us, roughly tell the story of the break-up of the Beatles. During this time (late 60s-early 70s), there was a great deal of animosity between the group, and they (particularly Lennon and McCartney) weren't speaking to each other, except for somewhat obscure (or in some cases, not so obscure) 'messages' in songs.

The first track of this section, Two Of Us, was featured on the album 'Let It Be', and was apparently written by Paul with both Linda McCartney and John Lennon in mind - it was around this point that John and Paul's relationship became rather strained.

Following this is Oh Darling! from the album Abbey Road, the Beatles' last album.

The next track is George Harrison's Sue Me, Sue You Blues, written during the height of the Beatles' legal problems - to cut a very long story short, in order to legally break up the band, Paul McCartney was forced to sue his bandmates, which obviously led to hurt feelings all round. Although they broke up in 1970, the band wasn't officially, legally dissolved until 1975.
