Well, I guess not too many folks liked these photos, JaneE.
Glad I could post them here for you anyways.
Hey- I thought the pics were
great - I'm just not that familiar with IQ - something I'll have to remedy in the future - can you suggest any particular place to start?
Sure... always glad to help as far as IQ is concerned. The Wake is their first CD... but I would probably start with
Ever and then
The Seventh House and
Dark Matter.
Then I would dive into
Subterranea.
Subterranea is their two CD concept album. Awesome stuff but I personally would start with those other CDs first and then move on to
Subterranea.
Their are three albums that feature Paul Menel on vocals instead of Peter Nichols. Peter was the original vocalist and then left for a period of time. Peter has a wonderful, strong prog voice that at times is reminiscent of Gabriel. IMO, Paul Menel also has a great voice but his song writing tends towards pop. There are very good songs on the Menel era CDs. In contrast, the Nichols era CDs are awesome through and through.
Also, if you don't start with The Wake... make sure you end up with it as it has great songs on it as well.
IQ will be playing their Christmas concert in London on December 9th. If you have any way to get there... go! They are not to be missed live! (also, I just saw that you live in SoCal. London may be a bit far. IQ is attempting to come to the US for one show next year.)
And, if you like a harder edge to your prog... be sure to check out Frost's new release
Milliontown.
