Bargains of the Week

Went to Southampton yesterday and went into a record shop there called FOPP. Picked up Selling England By The Pound for £3 and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway for £5. Also got Queen's first album for £5.

Thought it was about time I upgraded my 30yr old vinyls.

In my opinion, CD's are more likely to sell at these prices.  I know that statement sounds daft but....

for instance....

I go into HMV or wherever and buy 1 maybe 2 new CD's at GBP11-12+

or (which I seem more likely to do)

I go into HMV or wherever and have a good look around at the CD's on sale and walk out the shop with maybe 7 or 8 classic CD's @ GBP4-5.

Yes I have spent more money in the shop, but I've come out there feeling great cos I now have a shed load of great music and prolly replaced some old or lost vinyl etc

I am also more likely to buy an "unknown" CD at 5 quid rather than 10 or 11 quid.

I win...the shop wins...

Come on you music retail outlets!  wake up to the new face of discerning consumer spending power!
