Fresh Prog ; Programme Five

Hello and welcome to the notes for Stellar Attraction’s new realease programme “Fresh Prog”. This will be edition number five and will be broadcast on Wednesday 19th January 2011 at 8.00pm British Time (GMT) with re-runs on Friday 21st at 9.00pm, Sunday 23rd at 11.00am and Tuesday 25th at 2.00am. This programme wraps up the 2010 albums with seven releases from the latter part of the year. The seven albums are:

* Salem Hill - “Pennies In The Karma Jar”
* Manning - “Charlestown”
* Unwritten Pages -“Noah”
* Sunchild - “The Wrap”
* Big Big Train - “The Far Skies Deep Time” EP
* Delusion Squared - “Delusion Squared”
* David Minasian - “Random Acts Of Beauty”

The programme has a slightly lop sided look because of the presence of two extremely long tracks in the play list. These are “Under The Wrap” by Sunchild which clocks in at 38 minutes while Manning’s “Charlestown” is a mere 35 minutes in duration. So if you like long tracks you’ve come to the right place ! (there’s also a 17 minute track by Big Big Train). The show length is a snitch under four and half hours (4hrs 28min) and I hope you catch some of it at some time and enjoy. There’s a couple of debut albums from exciting new bands Delusion Squared and Unwritten Pages. The Big Big Train release is billed as an EP but it’s actually 41 minutes in length and includes the reworking of an old Anthony Phillips demo song “Master Of Time”. David Minasian is a long time collaborator with Camel and the track “Masquerade” features Andy Latimer on vocals and guitar.

OK, Fresh Prog will be back in mid March as we get stuck into the 2011 albums for the first time. In that show I'm hoping to feature the new material from Pallas, Believe, Magic Pie, Amplifier, Presto Ballet, Galleon and Poor Genetic Material or Leap Day. CDs are a bit slow in dropping through the letter box at present so that line up is subject to alteration.

We also have an extra programme planned for some time in early 2011, this is a seven and half hour programme to celebrate the 30th anniversary of IQ. This will not just feature IQ material as every other track will be from one of the side projects such as Jadis, Martin Orford, The Lens, Flash Range and Darwin's Radio. We'll let you know when this is going to be on air.

Mick,

Did you know that the Watch will have a new album out on the 21st? I like their music.
