THE SYN, Boston, Massachusetts 19 Jan 06

The show was very good, though it was tremendously disheartening to see only about 200 people in a theater which seats double that amount.  This is the direct result, no doubt, of there being NO promotion of the CD/tour in the Boston area.  The band's name wasn't even on the marquee outside.  Depressing.  The guys sounded excellent, though!

From Syndestructable, they played Breaking Down Walls; Some Time, Some Way; Reach Outro; Cathedral of Love; City of Dreams, and Golden Age.  They also played a few older songs but I'm afraid I don't recall the titles.

Alan White has joined the band for the U.S. leg of their tour, after only a couple weeks' rehearsal.  After the first song, Breaking Down Walls/Some Time, Some Way/Reach Outro, I yelled, "Alan!  You rock!"  Because he was so tight - I mean really great Alan rocking out hard - and has only been playing with these guys for a few weeks.  Alan didn't react to my most unladylike shouting, so I did it again after the next two songs and he finally cracked a big smile.  He and I had a nice but brief chat after the show, mostly about Trevor Rabin, actually.

I chatted just a bit with Gerard Johnson, who was quite friendly; as well as with Shane Theriot, who's doing guitar for The Syn in the U.S.

As for my new crush, Steve Nardelli ... If he could bring his obvious warmth and charm to the stage, he'd have thousands of women buying Syndestructable just because he's so darling.  We spent several minutes chatting after the show and he was very patient and gracious.  Best of all, he's a big fan of our very own Dee.

It was a great show and I urge everyone to get out and support the band!

Any Boston photos?
I hope Syn come to Europe, I'm a big Nardelli fan too.
How does one get to meet him?

I sent a bunch of photos to Dee to post for me, as I'm not computer-savvy enough to do it myself.  I'm sure he'll post them as soon as he's able to get back online.

I'm sure you won't have any problem meeting Steve Nardelli.  During the U.S. tour, about half an hour after the show, the guys in the band come out for a "meet and greet."  Bring something for them to sign.  For me, I found the "secret" to really chatting up the guys was to wait by the backstage door - it was just me and two friends, no crowd of fans.  So I had a good five minutes talking with them there...then I stayed behind everyone who was waiting for autographs.  If you're the last in line, there's no rush to move along and Nardelli et al can chat as long as they like.  I'd say I spent another 15 minutes talking with Steve, Alan, and Chris after most everyone else had gone.

Steve, Alan, and Gerard went beyond the call of duty in terms of chatting up fans, IMO.  According to Steve, Alan WILL be joining The Syn during the European tour.  However, when I spoke with Alan last week after the concert, he said that he'd probably be in Brazil at that time.  So...dunno...

Have fun!

Last week I acquired a highly unofficial recording of this show, which turned out to been done by the guy who was sitting in front of me.  As he was in the front row, Chris' side of the stage, it is a very bass-heavy recording.  And as he was in front of me, it is a very JaneEyre hooting-and-hollering heavy recording.  LOL, I pity anyone else who listens to it!

Track List
1. Breaking Down Walls
    Some Time Some Way
    Reach Outro
2. Cathedral of Love
3. Silent Revolution
4. Grounded
    Flowerman
    14th Hour Technicolor Dream
5. Jimi Hendrix Story (Or as I like to call it, "Chris prattles on for 14 minutes before finally reaching the conclusion that he almost met Hendrix once, bloody hell we could have had one or two additional songs rather than this load of bollocks.")
6. City of Dreams
7. The Promise
8. Golden Age (this was done as an encore)
