For most of you this change will be unnoticeable, however, it is possible that some of you will of had one of the relay server's direct address bookmarked in your chosen Media Player - the solution for this scenario is very simple - use any of the tune-in links on the website to ensure an immediate connection to the streaming servers and the music being broadcast. Having recently been upgraded, the popular discussion forum has now been enhanced !! Our webhost is moving our dedicated website server to a new Data Centre on the morning of Saturday the 16th of May. This will involve a physical move of the server itself and whilst downtime will occur as a result of this move (starting at approximately 6:00am (GMT) and being resolved by early in the afternoon of the same day), the music will continue to stream without interruption during this time. This move will mean that the dedicated S.A. website server is connected to a blisteringly-fast Tier 1 connection, has 24/7 onsite engineers and a fully redundant power back-up system in place. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused but we have been assured that downtime will be kept to a minimum.

The discussion forum is now back online having been fully upgraded to the very latest version - YaBB 2.2.2 !! With all topics, threads, posts and membership details intact, there are an extensive number of new features. Due to several technical issues, the website server fell offline around the 10th of June. Furthermore, we experienced numerous difficulties in propagating and controlling the DNS settings for the domain name - essentially letting the internet know where the website for S.A. physically resided. However, the music has played constantly and without interruption whilst the website was offline. I'm now delighted to announce that the S.A. website is back online and is now residing on it's own dedicated server !! With a huge increase in both processing power and storage capacity, many of the core server-side applications are running on the very latest versions. Also, whilst the website was offline, I took the opportunity to service the source, SAM server and fully upgrade and configure the SAM software to the very latest version - 4.3.6  !! The forum is currently being uploaded and configured to the very latest YaBB version - with all memberships and posts remaining intact !! I hope to have the popular forum back online as soon as possible and I will be posting a full update as to what has occurred and provide more in-depth information as to the extensive list of enhancements that have also taken place. As part of the ongoing mission to enhance the S.A. listening experience, the 32 kbps Stream has been upgraded from the MP3 format to the AAC+ format !! This upgrade will provide significantly enhanced audio quality (broadcasting in both Parametric Stereo and at 44.1 kHz) for listeners tuning-in to the 32 kbps stream. As the AAC+ encoder allows for excellent audio quality at low-bit rates, it can also be used as an alternative for Broadband listeners when the 128 kbps MP3 server is full. Starting tomorrow, Friday 16th of May @ 9:00pm (GMT), we will be broadcasting Part Two of DJ Madzilla's series featuring 'The Beatles' (and the member's solo material) !! As usual, this session will be repeated in it's entirety throughout the forthcoming week to accommodate as many international time-zones as possible. Whilst I was away from S.A. Headquarters, due to numerous technical issues the stream(s) fell offline. Although there are several automatic recovery solutions in place in the event of problems occurring whilst I am not physically present, these were insufficient to deal with the specific issue. However, I am delighted to advise that I have returned and everything is now running as normal again. Sincere apologies for this extended downtime and in the meantime, continue to enjoy.

We are currently in the process of enhancing the S.A. website. As the final step of 'Phase 3a', this will conclude with an increase in the website server's capacity (essentially to accommodate the ever increasing website traffic) and upgrades to a number of the core applications and website services. During this enhancement process, there may be interruptions to website access and in particular, the popular discussion forum. The stream itself will be totally unaffected whilst this upgrade is taking place, however, apologies for any occasional interruptions that you may encounter when attempting to view the S.A. website - these will hopefully be kept to a minimum.

Due to a power outage on the morning of Tuesday, 26th February, the source SAM server went offline and the normal, automatic re-boot under such circumstances failed. Also, the SAM server failed to start manually. As such, the stream was offline until Wednesday evening, however, this has now been fixed and the stream is running as normal again. Sincere apologies for this outage and many thanks for your patience whilst the stream was offline.

The website has undergone a facelift !! It now features the track coming up next, a picture of the album that the currently playing track is taken from and when clicked, takes you directly to the appropriate page on Amazon.com for further information and the option to buy the CD itself !! The S.A. Merchandise Shop is now also fully functioning and online. Feel free to take a look and maybe even purchase an exclusive S.A. t-shirt, mug or bag. Other technical enhancements have also been made with further enhancements due to go online soon. Also, there are several Guest DJ Sessions on the horizon and other special programming. As usual, watch this space !!

On Saturday, 29th December @ 6:00pm (GMT), S.A. will be broadcasting a '2007 Year End BLOWOUT Session' !! A compilation of music from DJ Heracleum Mantegazziani, mixed by our very own SAM server !! This coming Friday, 14th December @ 9:00pm (GMT), we will be broadcasting an 'A NEW AMAZING FANTASTIC PROG SESSION - HM4' by DJ Heracleum Mantegazziani !! The source SAM Server has had another increase in storage capacity to accommodate the ever increasing amount of music now held on file. Over forty Gigabytes of music has been added to the database in the past month alone with more CDs on their way. Also, further enhancements to the website are due to go online soon - as usual, watch this space !!

This coming Friday, 3rd August @ 9:00pm (GMT), we will be broadcasting a 'Mellotron Marathon' by Guest DJ Heracleum Mantegazziani !! From HM himself - ". . . as you well may discern from the title, each track in this session will feature the unmistakable, incredibly evocative sound of the Mellotron ! All of the most popular 'tron artists will be represented, like Genesis, King Crimson, Moody Blues etc...   but I've also tried to throw in some unusual selections as well ! And... like all of my past sessions it will contain many tracks never before heard on S.A." We have been advised by our Streaming Host that they are carrying-out essential maintenance and upgrades on Saturday, 26th May between 11:00pm and 4:00am (GMT) at the Data Centre in London where our ShoutCast servers reside. During this time, there may be brief interruptions to the S.A. stream, however this will not involve a full outage. As has been outlined by our stream host, this work has been scheduled during 'off-peak' hours. This is essential work and will ensure an even more resilient, reliable and improved service for all S.A. listeners. This work does not conflict with DJ Silver's Fish Marathon which is being re-broadcast throughout the course of this week. On Friday, 25th of May @ 9:00pm we will be broadcasting a 'Fish Marathon' by Guest DJ Silver !! Basking in the success of his previous sessions, in particular his previous two Marillion Marathons, DJ Silver now brings you over twelve hours of music from Fish - spanning his entire career to date !! As usual, this session will be repeated in it's entirety throughout the course of the following week - to accommodate as many international time-zones as possible. The Stellar Attraction discussion forum has undergone a face-lift !! There is now a dedicated Chat Room where members can talk to each other online. Also, members now have access to the Media Centre where there are already numerous Prog-related YouTube video-clips ready for viewing !! Finally, there is an online 'Event Calendar'  where members and guests can easily see forthcoming events, special programming, 'Marathon Sessions' and Guest DJ Sessions - all of this within the comfort of the discussion forum !! This coming Monday, 19th February @ 9:00pm (GMT), we will be broadcasting Fusession II by Guest DJ  - Heracleum Mantegazziani !! From HM himself "Now fusion, or jazz fusion to be more descriptive, means different things to different people. My personal definition is of the Jazzier side of Progressive music..usually containing a blend of rock, jazz and even classical elements. Hopefully, if you weren't here last year for the first session,  you'll find some music you've never heard before or even thought of hearing before. An expanding of the Progressive horizon as it were..." There is no definite theme throughout, though various groupings of tracks will have their own theme. There will be some oddities and quite a few surprises". The session comprises of six different artists back-to-back - Genesis, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Brand X, Frank Zappa and Peter Gabriel. The bandwidth on the main, 128 kbps broadband server, has been increased to accommodate the volume of listeners tuning-in. Also, the bit rate of the dial-up server has been increased to 32 kbps, giving enhanced audio quality for our dial-up listeners. Enjoy.

This coming Friday 17th of February @ 9:00pm (GMT) we will be broadcasting a session compiled by DJ Silver !! Basking in the success of his recent 24 Hour Marillion Marathon - Silver Session III is a compilation of the finest in Progressive Rock with many tracks never before played on S.A.

Unfortunately our internet connection failed for several hours today, resulting in the radio being offline for most of the day (GMT). However, we are pleased to advise that the problem has been identified and fixed by our ISP. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Our streaming host has moved onto a new subnet. This has rectified the occasional intermittent buffering that has occurred of late and will provide improved stability in the radio stream. As a result of this, our IP Address has changed.
