Principal Edwards Magic Theatre

Since I joined yesterday, although I have been listening for years, it is time to make a request. I have been looking for Principal Edwards for years. Does anyone remember them? John Peel (RIP) was involved in at least one of their albums, released on the Dandelion label.

Hi there GMac. I have to confess to never having heard of Principal Edwards, although as always, I shall look into it. Cool

When I saw them in 1970, they were playing music from their first album. I was impressed by the quality of the music and the lightshow, something fairly original in those days.

AMG compares them with Incredible String Band, Lindisfarne, Fairport Convention, etc. I disagree but that is my personal opinion.

Never heard of them either GMac. But after Googling found that they have a re-released some 1974 music on Cherry Red Records called the Devon Tapes. See this link http://www.cherryred.co.uk/cherryred/artists/principaledwardsmagictheatre.php

Also got a website at http://cms2.gre.ac.uk/jr07/principaledwards/site/about.asp and are on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/principaledwards where there are some short music clips.

There is a bit on Prog Archives here http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3302 who categorise them as Prog / Folk.
