Hi there JT,

Well spotted !!

Indeed, prior to the upgrade to YaBB version 2.2.2, there was a chat room feature within the forum. However, this feature was an 'add on' - ie. not something not comes bundled with a default YaBB Forum install (any version). So, as part of the upgrade to the latest release the chat room was lost I'm afraid, as it wasn't compatible with the new forum version.

The good news is that it will return shortly ...

Once I have finished configuring the CSS for the current YaBB version, I need to upgrade to YaBB version 2.2.3. This will add a few extra features and iron-out a few annoying bugs ('smilies' not always displaying as they should, for example). At this point I will be in a position to re-install the chat room as it has already been re-coded by the author to work with YaBB versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.3.

Hi JT,

I don't know what you mean when you say 'an open format' viewable chat room.

Anyway, once we're on the next YaBB release (which I understand is to be the final release of the current version) I will be installing the updated version of the chat room that was previously a feature on the forum.

If you're interested, it's based on the PJIRC Java IRC client.

At the moment, the authors of these enhancements are in the process of upgrading them to the most recent version - 2.3. Excellent idea though, bassie. As and when it becomes available, I'll be sure to add it.
