Endless great stuff this afternoon and evening, almost all of it new to me and I think much of it new to SA. Just fantastic.

Including:

Absolute Elsewhere - Miracles Of The Gods
Schicke Führs & Fröhling - Pictures
Julian's Treatment - Part One (Twin Suns Of Centauri) (Part Two Alkon, Planet Of Centauri)
Mythos - Dedicated To Wernher Von Braun
Audience - House On The Hill

Currently playing track:
Emerson, Lake And Palmer - Blues Variation
Coming up: King Crimson - Pictures Of A City (Live)
Time  Last five tracks played
16:46:07  Emerson, Lake And Palmer - The Old Castle
16:41:26  Emerson, Lake And Palmer - The Sage
16:40:03  Emerson, Lake And Palmer - Promenade
16:35:47  Emerson, Lake And Palmer - The Gnome
16:33:49  Emerson, Lake And Palmer - Promenade

Having not listened to this in its entirety in quite some time, I recall clearly now why ELP was my favorite prog rock band for so long and may very well still be.

This band had it all.

I could only imagine sitting in the audience when this was recorded almost nearly 40 years ago and being totally crappity smacking blown away.

This music surely stands the test of time.

Home - Fancy Lady, Hollywood Child

Now I do not dislike it and actually would be interested in hearing the rest of the album, however, it seems to far from the prog realm.  Is there some other aspect to this band which places squarely in the prog circle?

I'm glad you enjoyed that track, Steven. Smiley

Featuring a 'Mr. William Bruford' on drums - according to the CD, anyway. Yes, it's the very same Bill Bruford. A very new addition to the S.A. database. Cool

Hi Dan,

Indeed, the majority of the tracks that you've mentioned are new additions. As always, I'm glad that they've gone down well. Cool

Hi again Steven,

I know what you mean about that particular track not sounding very 'prog'. Home are certainly an interesting group (and a popular one here at S.A.). Sadly over-looked 'back in the day' (they were a British group from the early '70s), they only released a few albums.

Guitarist Laurie Wisefield was originally from Wishbone Ash and their music reminds me of both WB and Family in places, although they do have a tendency to have an occasional country-sounding track too.

The Alchemist is generally thought to be a gem of theirs.

CDs on the S.A. database are :-

  • Home
  • Live BBC Sessions 1972-73
  • Pause For A Hoarse Horse
  • The Alchemist
Darran

Based upon all my comments above, I think it is safe to say that I am stuck in the 70s, lol.
