Folks,

Around forty to fifty or so CDs have arrived over the past few weeks with more that I would like to order. However, I've halted adding these new CDs to the database for the time being because the SAM server is rapidly running out of storage capacity. In a nutshell, as the database is already teetering on the 200GB mark, room on SAM's dual RAID hard drives is currently limited.

This obviously means that I'm going to have to buy new hard drives to keep up with S.A.'s constant growth and expansion - which includes this Quarter's new CDs.

With the current uncertain economic climate, the (kind) donations towards the running costs of S.A. have dwindled somewhat of late. Whilst there is no obligation for any of you to help financially with the overheads that are involved in running S.A. (including the buying of new CDs), please bear in mind that S.A. is totally run by myself and funded out of my own, personal money. That and I don't make a penny for doing this.

In the meantime, there is admittedly a lot of music on the database which is currently going unplayed or yet to be added to the regular programming. So, I'm going to be concentrating on compiling even more playlists of mostly fresh material for you all to enjoy.

I'll update as and when I make progress.

Given that 1Tb drives are around £100 and you need 2 of them, if 10 of us donated £20 each, that should cover it.

1. Darren, do you have enough to get the new disks yet? If not, how much short are you?
2. What is all that stuff about the Lantern festival all about? It seems to be across a few replies - but it's confused me.

Whilst the response has been excellent thus far (many thanks to all who have donated !! :) ), I'm still shy by around fifty quid (pounds) or so. If the current level of additional donations continue, we should be good-to-go soon.

A Spammer that slipped through the net, I'm afraid. Fortunately, these are few and far between although several attempts at creating false accounts on the forum are made every day.

Anyway, I've changed the Master Encryption Key (which generates the sequence of characters in the validation image) and updated the colour / CAPTCHA settings.

Just to provide an update on this - I'm now the proud owner of two Seagate SATA RAID drives. These will be up-and-running in the very near future, however, this will coincide with SAM's annual service (giving all of the fans a good clean, re-installing the O/S and SAM software, upgrading the SQL software etc. etc.). I've also bought an extra 1 GB of RAM which will support future expansion and use of the software that's used and keep SAM 'ahead of the game'.

Anyway, many, many thanks to all that have chipped-in and helped support this 'mini campaign' - it's really appreciated.

I'll update again as the installation of the new hard drives and SAM's service will involve some brief down-time and I wouldn't want anybody to panic ...
