Title: Blowing Our Own Trumpet ... Again !!
Post by ProgMaster on 13th Oct, 2006 at 6:29pm
All,

As I've previously mentioned, the bandwidth on the main 128 kbps server has recently been increased to accommodate the volume of listeners tuning-in at any one time. This is due to S.A.'s continually increasing popularity world-wide. If anybody is interested, some stats are as follows :-

  • Over 10,000 listeners per. day are tuning-in to the main, 128 kbps server alone

  • On average, there are approximately 25 different countries from across the globe tuned-in in at any one time

  • Stellar Attraction is regularly featured in the Top 500 SoutCast Stations - Worldwide

  • The website attracts over 250,000 hits per. month - this figure excludes traffic generated by webcrawlers, search engines, robots, spiders etc - the figure for the year so far is just under 3,000,000 hits

  • Stellar Attraction is currently a 'featured station' at StreamFinder.com - from StreamFinder - "Your station was chosen by our independent listener panel for certain qualities such as unique programming, availability, tie-in with an information website and general programming quality. Keep up the good work."

  • An amusing short feature and listing on SureBert's Official Website

  • I have bought over 200 CDs this year alone, bringing the amount of tracks on the S.A. database to over 15,000

Continue ... to enjoy.

D

All of the above is amazing.  Kudos to you, Dee, on a job well done.

Now ... how 'bout a list of those 25 countries?!

Thanks JaneE. ;)

Currently tuned in are :-

South Africa  10

United States  8

?   8

France  6

United Kingdom  6

Japan  4

Brazil  3

Italy  3

Latvia  3

Mexico  3

Poland  3

Sweden  3

Czech Republic  2

New Zealand  2

Canada  1

Like I say, the above figure is an average using a statistical sample of two weeks within two separate months on both servers. The list within this post refers to the current listeners on the 128 kbps server. As you can see, there are eight 'unidentified countries' listed.

Oh - those are all me.  I should have said.  Sorry.
;)

Thanks for the list.  I've been curious about that for a while.

So you're the listeners from Venus ... ?? I should have guessed ... ;)

It should be possible to display this total in some form or other on the website. Something that I'll have to look into. Admittedly, it does fluctuate quite frequently - the different countries tuning-in. Always good to see somewhere 'obscure' on the list though. 8-)

I thought Don was making a 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus' reference. Personally, I think all the men have gone to Venus to try and get a date with JaneE, hence no listeners from Mars. ;)

I'm sure he was.  My reply was the wittiest thing I could come up with, being so tired and whatnot.

As for the rest ... well ... what can one say?  All the other men are jealous because they know I'm head-over-heels for you, Dee!
