Title: 128 kbps Server - Bandwidth Increase !!
Post by ProgMaster on 22nd Sep, 2006 at 6:36pm
All,

As I have mentioned on air several times recently, the main broadband server has been hitting full capacity on a regular basis of late. This is due to S.A.'s ever-increasing popularity, however, I know that a lot of you have become frustrated when tuning-in only to receive a 'Server Full' error message.

I'm therefore delighted to announce that the bandwidth on the main, broadband server, has now been considerably increased. This will allow even more listeners to tune-in to the radio station simultaneously and of course, at the same crystal-clear 128 kbps bitrate.

Also, the bitrate on the dial-up server has been increased from 24 kbps to 32 kbps, giving enhanced listening pleasure for our dial-up listeners.

Enjoy.

Dee

Dee - the sound is incredibly clearer on the dial-up (which is the only way I can seem to get the stream at work)
Very Impressive! !

Oh,  and enjoying the Pendragon immensely! 8-)

Glad you're enjoying the Pendragon HM. 8-)

With the enhanced 32 kbps dial-up stream, I've now been able to increase the frequency from 12 kHz to 16 kHz.

Enjoy.

I have to confess, I'm unsure as to why you can only tune into the dial-up stream whilst at work. It might be due to a blocking on the high speed server's port number but the two server's ports are pretty close numerically but then again, it might be bandwidth limitation or a number of other things ... :-/

Currently, the 'firewall friendly' tune-in links are only available for any Media Player other than Windows Media Player. Somewhere in my work stack is to look into having Port 80 streaming in .asx format (Windows Media Player format). You never know, one day soon I may get around to it ... ;)

Dee;

Thanks for the extra bandwith and of course the great station that is broadcast across it.
