Title: '48 Hour Yes Marathon' - Friday 30th September !!
Post by ProgMaster on 28th Sep, 2005 at 4:10am
All,

This coming Friday 30th September @ 10:00pm GMT (5:00pm EST) we will be broadcasting a 48 Hour YES Marathon.

The previous Yes marathons proved to be huge successes and now that we have extra bandwidth and the crystal-clear 128 Kbps stream on the main server, I'm sure that this will be our best Yes Session yet. ;D

It will feature a simply huge selection of music spanning the group's entire career to date. The session will also include a large selection of music from the band member's solo work and music by The Syn.

As usual, requests are welcome. Either post here or send me an e-mail.

Looking good people !!

Dee

Dee;

Sounds great.  My appreciation for Yes continues to grow each and every time I see them in concert or hear them hear or elsewhere.

Good luck and as for requests, play whole album sides, that is the way it was meant to be heard.

Thanks again for the great station.

Boston

Thanks bostonba.  :) Not sure about playing whole album sides for every album they have released though ... I can't imagine Time and a Word 'side A' being played straight thru for example ... ::)

Please add "Hold Out Your Hand", and "Lucky Seven" from Squire's "Fish Out Of Water" CD to the playlist for the 48 Hrs of YES.  Would also be great to hear "Real Love" off the YES CD "Talk".

Hi there Yesfan4 and welcome to the forum !!

Have no fear, 'Fish Out Of Water' will be played in it's entirety as will 'Real Love'. The latter being from an excellent concert taken from the 'Talk Tour'

Say Dee-
How much solo material will there be included - any Patrick Moraz solo stuff? Or Bruford?  (or even something from the Bruford/Moraz - Flags)
I have a vinyl copy of Two Sides of Peter Banks (w/Jan Aakerman, Steve Hackett, John Wetton, Phil Collins..) interesting stuff...don't suppose you might have a copy of that one to play...?

Looking forward to it 8)

cheers!

Dee;

How about the Refugee self-titled album, which is quite the prog workout, the link to yes being the keyboard player Patrick Moraz as Bon mentioned in the quote below.  Of course the rest of the band were from the Emerson led The Nice, which was a great band also, if I do so say myself.  Hey wait a minute I just did.

Regards,

Steven ;D

As much as possible btn. Certainly most of Moraz's 'I' album and whatever Bruford/Moraz material I have (which isn't a huge amount admittedly ... :() Some of 'Bruford's Earthworks' will also feature. Will have to get back to you re: Banks - I know I have a Flash album on vinyl somewhere ... ::)

My only regret is that this could not be a 48-hour marathon during the week... that way I could listen for 10 hours a day at my office desktop!

I am new to this site but gotta tell ya, GREAT stuff.

America is UNBELIEVABLE on The Word is Live as well! Best version ever. I bet Paul Simon had tears of joy in his eyes when he heard what they did with it!  Love that riff of future Roundabout in the final jam.

Hello from the Netherlands! Great show! My usual request of Dreamtime is already on it's way so this time I will request To Be Over...hopefully that one wasn't played earlier?

Where's the chatroom by  the way?

Hi there Andersonic - good to see you again !!

'To Be Over' will be coming up after 'I See You' - an excellent acoustic version by Steve Howe.

A chatroom will be on the forum soon ... 8)

Dee;

Given the serious endorsement of this version of America and assuming it has not been played yet and seeing as you promised to do so in my honour and I hope I did not miss that honour earlier, please do play this version when you can.

Great show all around and will be hanging with you for the next 4 hours or so.

Yes... and to punish yourself for such acts (although they were tasty tunes) you should be FORCED to run the Yes Marathon through 11:59pm London time (5:59pm Chicago time) on Monday, October 3rd!

That'll teach ya!

Many thanks from France for this great marathon. I'm a Yesfan since 1973 and this session made me discover materials i could'nt imagine...
My suggestion for the next marathon: Porcupine Tree. I didn'nt know this band before hearing it on Stellar Attraction, thinking that progressive Rock had'nt produced new bands who could succeed to genesis, yes, king crimson or elp. I know now that i was wrong and i would like to hear more of them.

Ozric Tentacles is not so bad too...

Thanks again to all of stellar attraction for all you do...

Hi there gudulezzz and welcome to the forum !! ;D

I'm pleased that you've enjoyed the marathon.

Yes, Porcupine Tree are indeed a fantastic group and certainly should be considered for the 'marathon treatment' here on S.A. ... 8)

I'm glad that you've enjoyed the Ozric Tentacles too - another fantastic 'contemporary prog' band.

You weren't the only one to ask that question btn ... ::)

It's an unreleased track that was allegedly written for one of the 'Lord Of The Rings' movies but was never included. Peter Jackson being a huge Yes fan and all. Again, this is the story I've heard, whether there's any truth in it or not is another matter.

Nice story though ... 8)
