Post by ProgMaster on 2nd Aug, 2005 at 3:17am
All,

Basking in the success of his '24 Hour Marillion Marathon' ... Silver will be taking the driving seat once again on Stellar Attraction - this coming Friday 5th August.

Kick-off is 9:00pm (GMT) and, as can be expected, an eclectic selection of excellent Progressive Rock is guaranteed.

Use this handy link to convert GMT into your own time-zone - http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_GB.aspx

Looking good. 8)

So, Silver will be playing a selection of prog rock from various bands? Is that right?

All the music is taken from my own collection so most of the usual suspects are included, although I have tried to pick songs not heard that often if at all on SA but there are also a few surprises as well. Hope you all enjoy it as the standard here is already high and I wouldn't want to be the one to let things slide.

I will give you one clue as to the content and that is there will be a fantastic Yes concert included taken from the 'Talk' tour.

Cheers
David

Don;t tease us Silver! Lets just say theres been a distinct shortage of Marillion (and related) material here on Stellar Attraction recently :'( Please say you're gonna be playing some Marillion goodies too? ;D

First thank you to every body for welcome words....

So Silver, I go home... today was a very long work day but FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL and MACNIFIC music day

Congratulations you are a super DJ

I'm from Catalonia in Spain and not from Mexico. I'm working here for a year. My City is Barcelona and my second language is Catalan. So, for my was a very incredible surprise listen a concert from Marillion from my city, Barcelona, with phrases in Catalan and listen it in Mexico by Internet. I don't have words to explain you....

I liked too very much your session of concerts of Yes... very, very well. I was looking in Internet information about the CDs you played and I'm not sure if are these:

1.- Saturday, August 20, 1994 - Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, US
http://forgottenyesterdays.com/date.asp?s=5&tname=15&tdate=1810&navb=10

2.- Time For A Planet  - July 2, 1994     Chicago,  US
http://hiddenworld.net/ranyart/yes.html

Maybe you can publish a list with all the music you play today.

Silver thank you very much for a great day-night

Good morning for you...

Visca Mèxic i Catalunya Independent....

:D  ;D  :D  ;D  :D  ;D  :D  ;D

Thank you for your kind words Gavilan and may I add my welcome to you. Barcelona is a very special city for Marillion who always try to play there on every tour and are doing so again in November at Sala Bikini. Last year they played in Mexico City on the Marbles tour.

The Yes concert was on June 19th 1994 in New York.

Cheers
David

Thank you very much Sylver for this very good session.

A very good surprise : Supertramp !

I hope there ' ll be somme Peter gab , Fish and Waters' songs too ?

:)  :)  :)  :)

And what about non-british language prog rock ?

There are some very good songs too .

For example in french  ;) : Ange, Harmonium, Monalisa.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a "non british prog rock session" one of these days ?

::)

But it's already a great compil  !!!

Thank you very much again .

:)

Good job Silver! :D  I especially enjoyed the Camel tracks, but liked IQ and some of the others as well (got me to do some web research on the bands I didn't know)

Say Dee...can anyone play?  If I could compile a set of tracks & send them to you..would you be interested in a btn session??

Thanks to all

The Camel tracks were from the album 'Nude' and the IQ tracks were from 'The Seventh House' and 'Dark Matter' albums if I recall correctly.

Glad you enjoyed them.

Good suggestion pno, however, there is always a decent selection of non-English language Prog on any given playlist. Artists that spring to mind include :-

  • Zao - French
  • Classroom - Belgium
  • Cos - Belgium
  • Amarok - Spanish
  • Quaterstorm - Czech
  • Maneige - French Canadian
  • Garybaldi - Italian
  • Magma - French
  • Zello - Swedish

These are bands that generally tend to sing in their own mother tounge as opposed to English.

Cheers for now.

…and don't forget, I did include a track by Sigur Ros in my session, who sing in their native Icelandic.

Cheers

Hello,

Ok for all that groups but don't forget:

- Galadriel from Spain but with all him LPs edited in France (http://www.galadrielmusic.com/ - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=121)

- Témpano from Venezuela the composers of the famous LP:  "Åtabal-Yémal" (1979) (http://www.tempano.com/princ.html - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=329)

- Alux Nahual from Guatemala, excellence group (http://www.aluxnahual.homestead.com/index.html) The web page is very bad and ugly but you can download some MP3 from the link "Música"

- Ñu from Spain a group, still active, with greats influences from Jethro Tull. (http://www.destierro.es.vg/ - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=403)

- Crucis from Argentina a group with predominance form instrumental themes but with some letters very acid. (http://rock.com.ar/bios/0/328.shtml - http://www.dospotencias.com.ar/rebelde/crucis.htm - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=488)

Also there is a UK group lead by Ilan Chester from Venezuela: "Ananta" (http://www.geocities.com/leon9702002/ananta.htm)

Adios Cuates!!!!
El Gavilan  ;D ;D
