Title: Best Gig 2004 Post by silver on 12th Jan, 2005 at 7:00pm
For those who don't know, my favourite band are Marillion. I was lucky enough to see them in concert quite a few times last year. The two sold out shows they put on at the Astoria in London on 10th and 11th July were outstanding.
Set list 10th July The Invisible Man Marbles I You're Gone Angelina Marbles II Don't Hurt Yourself Fantastic Place Marbles III The Damage Marbles IV Neverland [short break] This is the 21st Century Quartz Bridge Living with the Big Lie The Party Between You and Me Uninvited Guest Cover My Eyes Easter Set list 11th July First half as 10th Estonia Afraid of Sunlight Bridge Living with the Big Lie The Party The Great Escape Between You and Me King Uninvited Guest Cover My Eyes A DVD is available of these shows http://www.marillion.com/discog/road/index.html However possibly just ahead of these is the Rush show at Wembey Arena, London in September. A massive and stunning stage show, coupled with the fact that they hadn't been to England for 12 years made this a very special event indeed. Playing songs spanning their entire career they were on stage for 3hrs; no-one left dissapointed. I will add the set list soon. The performances of both bands were of equal high standard so it's difficcult to call. I'm just glad I was able to be there for both. So what was your best gig of 2004? |

Has to been seeing 'Yes' on their '35th Anniversary Tour' in June at Wembley Arena last year.
Unfortunately, the tickets I had bought weren't the best ever - we were situated half-way down on the left hand tier. The set-list was blinding - the only complaint I had was that they didn't play 'Close To The Edge' (and haven't played this on the last few tours to my knowledge) but they made up for this with a blinding version of 'Ritual'. The stage-set was one of the best I've seen them with. Designed by 'Roger Dean' (who else ?) it seemed to resemble some sort of 'Undersea Odyssey'. The 'Acoustic Set' halfway through the show was a total surprise and truly superb stuff. Hearing the band play in this form was totally different and made the gig for me. I also had a few 'non-converts' with me who also enjoyed the band and music and have now changed their opinion ... ;D D.C. |
