What a great site! I taped a load of Gentle Giant, Yes, etc etc when I was a kid but ditched the tapes as being too grotty. Time to make some replacements with proper albums I think...and yes, I think the Beta Band are prog too.
I wondered if you had the FANTASTIC Eddie Jobson/Zinc LP, The Green Album. That would go nicely to anyone'e time at the keyboard. Keep up the good work, bogl |

Hi Bogl !!
Thanks for taking the time to join our forum and welcome !! 'The Beta Band' prog ?? You can bet your boots they are ... ;D Especially the material from the '3 EPs'. I'll track down the album you mentioned and get back to you. Cheers for now !! D.C. |

I love your definition of "prog": Beta Band are def. there, and so is Eno, even when he goes all ambient. I love "Music for Airports", and regularly have it on as background music in the classroom when I am teaching. Settles the kids down no end.
So, if "MfA" is prog, what does that make "Warm Jets"? Or, for gloriously outrageous songs, "Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)"? In fact, what *are* the boundaries of prog? Where does it begin and end? The WIkipedia article does quite a good job, but I do think Bowie's "Low" is prog, even if not usually lumped together with it. I'm starting another thread, that has probably been hacked around before. Apologies. Ah, Hergest Ridge is starting...wonderful! bogl |

Excellent observations bogl. Something that certainly needs to be thrashed-out in more detail ...
See you on the other thread to continue :) |
