Back-up Failure / Lost Attachments
13th Oct, 2010 at 9:36pm

All,

Due to a software configuration error on my part the regular, scheduled back-up that kicked-in yesterday evening at around 8:00pm failed. This is the first time that the back-up process had run on the new website server - one of the many jobs that run 'in the background' and should appear invisible to visitors to the website, forum and listeners alike. Anyway, after much swearing, desperately searching on Google for advice, I have managed to restore the website and discussion forum.

I'm delighted to say that no posts have been lost, however, sad to say that a number of the more recent attachments that any of you may have made when making a post have unfortunately been lost. Most notably, this will affect the popular 'Name The Album' thread. All I can say is sorry, this is the first time in S.A.'s six odd-year history that such an event has happened.

Anyway, the automatic back-up facility is now working as it should and coupled with the manual back-ups I also make of the website and forum on a regular basis to my local PC, such a scenario shouldn't happen again any time soon.

Everything is now back up (excuse the pun ...) and running as normal.

Again, apologies if you've embedded an attachment within a post which has now been lost.

Continue to enjoy.

Darran

Darran -- no worries from this SA listener and occasional poster. And I think I speak for many or most here: Thanks for the site and all of the effort that you put into it!
