I introduce you to..............................

Hey Everybody,

I just found something new - to me at least! I am not all that knowledgeable on the "current definition" of Prog Rock, yet I know that alot of the stuff I was listening to in the 70's was prog rock, i.e Yes, Rick Wakeman, Genesis,, and ELP.

Well, whilst I was browsing MySpace (I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the Music Section!), I came across an artist whose music is really good, and in my opinion, is going somewhere (sorry, maybe he is already well-known in the UK, but as I am in the U.S, I don't know).

His name is Aaron Emerson and he is considered, Ambient/Classical. On his myspace page, he has a choice of 4 tracks that he has written, which you can play. These include,  "Ring" which is a brilliant piano piece; Jump (my favorite) sounds prog rockish to me! - Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it is mighty fine and I would HIGHLY recommend  listening to it! - According to the info, Aaron collaborated with Gary O'Brien, who is the vocalist in Lucho (another worthy group to check out on http://www.myspace.com/luchomusicif you don't already know them); Overdrive sounds very new age/ambient with a great beat, low-key soothing quality, and finally, The Bass Track, an upbeat melody again, classified more in the ambient genre.

Anyway, just thought I would share a new "find" of mine, whilst exploring the super highway called the Internet! TG for technology!
Aaron's website, btw,  is http://www.myspace.com/mraaronemerson. Check it out.

And yes yes yes, Aaron is the son of the briliant keyboardist, and a member of one of my favorite groups of all time, Keith Emerson of ELP! Now how cool is that????????

I think I can sum things up like this, "Like father, like son"! Enjoy..

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response. However, at the end of your message, you included a MySpace link that goes to Jo and Ethan. Can you please tell me who they are? A relation, by chance, to Keith Emerson?

I think they're Aaron's wife & son - he says in his blog he married Jo in October.  But he doesn't mention Ethan, so I may be wrong!

Ok, I will assume that is the site belongs to his wife,  Jo, and son, Ethan. Thanks for the link and info, Paul Smiley

BTW, did you check out Aaron's music? If so, what did you think?

Very different to Keith Emerson's! Keith has never lost his fire, even at 60, but I found Aaron's very peaceful and calming. I have also ordered Keith Emerson's wonderfully titled autobiography "Picture of an Exhibitionist", which I am look forward to reading Smiley

Well, I've got the book, and it's a great read  Smiley It is obviously written by Keith himself (a ghost writer would be more polished), and you get a real feeling that Keith is someone like us and ordinary things happened to him, as well as extraordinary ones. He always sent money for his mum & dad, while meeting all the big names from the sixties onwards. Surprisingly little sex and drugs so far (1967), but plenty of rock-and-roll.

More anon - but if you've got the money, or a good library, get it!
