Hey Everybody,
I just found something new - to me at least! I am not all that knowledgeable on the "current definition" of Prog Rock, yet I know that alot of the stuff I was listening to in the 70's was prog rock, i.e Yes, Rick Wakeman, Genesis,, and ELP.
Well, whilst I was browsing MySpace (I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the Music Section!), I came across an artist whose music is really good, and in my opinion, is going somewhere (sorry, maybe he is already well-known in the UK, but as I am in the U.S, I don't know).
His name is Aaron Emerson and he is considered, Ambient/Classical. On his myspace page, he has a choice of 4 tracks that he has written, which you can play. These include, "Ring" which is a brilliant piano piece; Jump (my favorite) sounds prog rockish to me! - Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it is mighty fine and I would HIGHLY recommend listening to it! - According to the info, Aaron collaborated with Gary O'Brien, who is the vocalist in Lucho (another worthy group to check out on http://www.myspace.com/luchomusicif you don't already know them); Overdrive sounds very new age/ambient with a great beat, low-key soothing quality, and finally, The Bass Track, an upbeat melody again, classified more in the ambient genre.
Anyway, just thought I would share a new "find" of mine, whilst exploring the super highway called the Internet! TG for technology! Aaron's website, btw, is http://www.myspace.com/mraaronemerson. Check it out.
And yes yes yes, Aaron is the son of the briliant keyboardist, and a member of one of my favorite groups of all time, Keith Emerson of ELP! Now how cool is that????????
I think I can sum things up like this, "Like father, like son"! Enjoy..
