Tropicalia anyone?
4th May, 2005 at 2:42pm

I just within the last year  self discovered tropicalia music by somehow accidentally downloading some Os Mutantes in my P2P activities. I had never heard of them and was pleasantly surprised to find upon listening that I actually not only like the music, but found it absolutely refreshing. I immediately set out to get even more Os Mutantes and did. Now at this stage I have heard of many tropicalia names, but have yet to acquire anymore.

Anyone else here into tropicalia?
If so, beside Os Mutantes, what groups do you like the best?

Is this anything to do with Club Tropicana (where the drinks are free)? Maybe I'm confusing this with Dee's holiday. Wink

Hmm... most of the Brazillian music I've been exposed to would probably be where its crossed over into the jazz rhelm - probably the type of music the Tropicalia group was trying to distance itself from (bossa nova - jobim or nacimientoish stuff) One of my very favourite guitarists in the world  is Egberto Gismonti (check out any solo work by him - he is also phenom on the piano) Oh - I like Hermeto Pasqual too.

No, probably not. Grin
Not unless they happen to play tropicalia music there.
