Hello Bubba!
Don't know if you've heard of or listened to KANSAS.
Kerry Livgren, one of KANSAS' former gutarists, Left KANSAS because of religious issues.
Last I've heard from Kerry was in a Christian band.(VERY excellent band and music!).-Saw them once on tv!
I can't recall the name of the band ,but, you might check one of the KANSAS' site.--You should be able to find some info there!
If you find, give me a holler back.--Would love to hear Kerry.---One Great gutarist!!

Hi BCofOZ

I will certainly have a look at the Kansas site. Sounds interesting. I'm very new to Prog Rock and the like, usually I listen to gospel music and Christain bands like Stpehn Curtis Chapman (American solo artist) and the Newsboys which is an Australian band. I also like Michael W Smith (another American solo artist), Amy Grant, and Matt Redman (English solo Artist) and loads of stuff like that. Have you ever listen to any of those I mentioned??! You probably wouldn't come across them in the normal stream unless you specifically wanted Christian music. I find them very encouraging and uplifting when I am sad or tired and also very good when I want to praise God through music. The church I go to plays gospel music which is partly why I attend the church I do.
If you are interested in any of these I can presonally recommend the Newsboys as I already mentioned. Phil Joel who is the singer in the Newsboys has also done a solo album whih is excellent!!!
Anyway, back to Prog Rock. SA is a surely great site! Keep tuning in! Happy listening!!

Bubba

You might like "Signs of Change" by After the Fire. If you want to see some aging rockers trying to remember how the song goes, try

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JbpkT1hUoBA

but the album is far better... 10 minutes instead of 3 on this track alone!

Hey Brent! Name of his Christian band in the 80's & 90's was AD. Check out the biography on his website:

Hey Bubba..if you're into Matt, then surely you know Delirious? I always thought they had some underlying progginess...checkout also any early Phil Keaggy (70' to 80's) very proggish IMHO

-Hm

P.S. Another one to look into would be Jeremy Riddle - excellent and very much in the M.Redman vein.

Highly recommend a newer prog group called, Fall of Echoes. They're cd is 'Red Tree'. I would best describe it as melodic metal w/o cookies. The lead singer has a deep soulful voice. The lyrics aren't preachy either. Good stuff.

Also Sieges Even--Paramount, has been described as being christian because of the lyrics. Doesn't matter to me, it is a great cd also.
