Title: Fresh Prog 17

Fresh Prog New Release Show Wednesday 7th May at 8.00pm plus reruns
Hello everyone just a reminder that we will be running another installment in our occasional series of programmes of new releases this coming Wednesday 7th May at 8.00pm British Time. There will be reruns on Friday 9th at 9.00pm, Monday 12th at 11.00am and Tuesday 13th at 2.00am

We have 8 new releases, all mixed up in the traditional random play mode. The albums are:

* Perfect Beings by Perfect Beings
* Unearth by John Bassett
* Second Sound by Druckfarben
* Execute And Breathe by Elephants of Scotland
* Ode To Echo by Glass Hammer
* To The Stars by Resistor
* Projective Instruments by Not Otherwise Specified
* Demon by Gazpacho

Perfect Beings are a U.S. west coast based band, this is their debut album but they feature a number of seasoned rock musicians including Johannes Luley who was one of the main protagonists in the excellent and short-lived Moth Vellum who feature regularly on the SA play list. Luley released a fine solo album last year “Tales From Sheepfather’s Grove”, now he has formed Perfect Beings and their album has been receiving very good reviews since its release in February, a review is at Background Magazine. John Bassett is the lead singer and songwriter with Hastings based band Kingbathmat, we featured the band last year with their release “Overcoming The Monster”. “Unearth is Bassett’s first solo album which has also been very well received by critics, here is a review at the Ringmaster Review. Druckfarben are a Canadian band based in Toronto, “Second Sound” is the follow up to their self titled debut album which was released in 2011, here is a review at the Phantom Toll Booth. Elephants Of Scotland are another North American based band (lot of good prog coming from that neck of the woods at present), they hail from the state of Vermont and “Execute And Breathe” is their swift follow up their fine 2013 debut album “Home Away From Home”. On the strength of their debut album, the band are playing the prestigious RoSfest Festival in the U.S.A. this month, here's a review at Lady Obscure. Glass Hammer need little introduction, this Chatanooga based Symphonic band are revealing their 15th studio album in 2014 (I think !) with the release of “Ode To Echo”. The band feature three different lead vocalists including current Yes front man Jon Davison, here's a review at Examiner.com. Resistor also hail from the New World, being based in Providence, Rhode Island. The band’s front man is Steve Unruh, who had a long solo career before forming Resistor in 2005, “To The Stars” is the band’s fourth studio album, we previously featured them on the programme with their 2010 release “Rise”. Not Otherwise Specified are from Atlanta, Georgia, “Projective Instruments” is the band’s second album, following on from 2011’s “Judgement”. They play a heavier style of Prog and the album includes a remake of Peter Gabriel’s “Signal To Noise”, here's a review at Sea Of Tranquility. And lastly Gazpacho, another band who are quite well known, the Norwegian art rockers here present their eighth studio album since their debut in 2003, there's a review at Sputnik Music.

So there you have it, six bands from North America and only two from Europe, you can never accuse me of bias towards the old continent.

Here is the play list, hope you can enjoy at some time.
