Well, what can I say ... !!

That was an amazing sold out concert in a great venue - really quite intimate.

I have a new genre to describe Porcupine Tree - Heavy Psychedelia. Big emphasis on the heavy too.

A great sound - loud but so clear !

The gig opened with a 30 minute set by The Engineers.
Porcupine Tree came on to rapturous applause and commenced the play the whole of The Incident (CD 1). This sounds so much better live & with the video graphics brings the whole thing to life in a way a CD just cannot.
This was a special concert for them as it's the end of the current tour and the last time they'd play The Incident for a while, said Steven.

A 10 minute break followed which was exactly 10 mins, with a count down timer on screen - nice touch !!

The remainder of the concert was a mixture of old & new tracks, with I think a change to the normal set list as a nod to their first appearance at Glasgow's King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, back in the mid 90's - they played Stars Die.

I think the set list was as follows (I've probably missed some out !):

Many thanks for the info., Jim. Sounds like a fantastic concert. I love the idea of a 'countdown clock' for the interval. 8-)

I forgot to add that Gavin Harrison was doing some outstanding drumming during the concert - the track that really stood out was Mother & Child Divided.

By "heavy", do you mean "dark"? I find the lyrics to be somewhat dark, and while I'm one who generally chooses music for the music instead of the lyrics, Porcupine Tree's lyrics go rather nice with their music.

I really meant heavy as in metal.

But I can see what you mean about lyrics !!
As Steve has said - "He states music is a way for him to channel all his negative feelings, and "an exorcism of those elements within", finding it "easier to write songs about the negative side of the world than it is about the happy side of the world."

About PT seen them one time Live in the HMH in Amsterdam, this year I am going to see them at Werchter Rock Festival in Middle Belgium, I am utterly suprised that a band like PT is attending that festival, but find it pretty cool, last year the Mars Volta did attend that festival not bad for a 'ordinary rock festival' ...  ;)
