I have to ask - is all the music like this? So far, it doesn't feel like "Prog Rock" to me.

It's a very, very mixed-bag, Alan.

Whilst some of the material may lean towards 'Jazz / Fusion' (DJ HM is after all, our resident 'Jazz Sage') there are a lot of familiar faces in the programming.

As the title suggests, it's the wonderful Mellotron that's the focus here.

Ahah. I begin to see. I'm impressed at the range of music you provide. I hadn't understood about the Mellotron idea - but I'm starting to understand.

Thanks.

Got to go - some of us have to work early in the morning.

Been interesting listening - and Amazon have made a bob or two out of it too! [It's very dangerous to my wallet being on a computer when listening to the radio]

Glad to hear you've been listening Alan! A little curious as to what you've purchased if you're keen to share ;)

Yes, I paint with a very wide Prog brush - teetering over the edges into Jazz and Classical at times (other times just wierd) 8-)

Be sure to check it out in the morning! It's a 24 hr party [smiley=party.gif] [smiley=beer.gif] [smiley=party.gif] [smiley=beer.gif] [smiley=party.gif]

here's a feline mellotron for you Dan ;D

I didn't know about the Mellotron re-run...I was posting over on "What is playing now" but I finally decided to come over to this thread to see if the Mellotron session was being re-run because EVERY DAMN TRACK SEEMED TO HAVE PLENTY OF MELLOTRON IN IT.

Haven't been checking posts lately so didn't know about the rerun...***really would have appreciated an Email about it!*** In any case, what matters is that I'm HERE and have been listening for some hours...and it's been GREAT! Sam's doing a nice shuffle of it!

And meanwhile, yes, HM that has got to be THE BEST MELLOTRON PIC EVER!!! As you probably know I love cats...Where ever did you get that photo???

Purchase list was:

"Bedside Manners Are Extra"
Greenslade

"Hatfield and the North"
Hatfield & The North

"The Rotters Club"
Hatfield & The North

"Greenslade"
Greenslade

"In the Land of Grey and Pink"
Caravan

"Once Again: Remastered"
Barclay James Harvest

"In the Court of the Crimson King"
King Crimson

All records found by clicking on a link of something that was playing and then seeing what else Amazon had to offer. I have all the Greenslade and the King Crimson on vinyl - the others were speculative (I remember Caravan from the 70's).

As do I !!! I've been 'listening' to the session at work today by copying the playing order from this website:

http://s1.viastreaming.net/7170/

It shows the last ten tracks play, so I just kept adding the playing order to a Windows Media playlist (see pict at bottom)
This website is blocked unfortunately (as is anything with the word 'radio' )

I have to say, without tooting my own horn too loudly, that SAM has done a blistering job of mixing - especially the last half of the session!
Thanks for all your great comments everyone - hear's to next time!! [smiley=beer.gif]

Cheers,

-Hm [smiley=DJ.gif]

P.S. If interested, I'll post the entire playlist (in the original running order) in a separate thread

Hi HM , I don't know if you have Ange 'Guet Apens' album.

There is inside some fabulous mellotron's songs

Specials thanks to Francis Descamps for this wonderful sound work !

:)

I'm also thinking about Harmonium's  'le corridor'   ::) ::)

The website address quoted above is the address for S.A.'s ShoutCast Server (for the 128 kbps MP3 stream) in London.

Indeed, unfortunately most work places block anything that is even associated with streaming media these days ... :-X

Giving me ideas for the next Mellotron session??? ::)

Unfortunately I don't have that particular Ange album - the Planet Mellotron website concurs tht it is one of their better albums for Mellotron use. I will look for that Harmonium disc - don't have that one either. :-/
Thanks again for listening and you're great comments.  SAM sure did a great mixing job - I even liked his running order in some places far better than mine - was very enjoyable to hear a fresh mix!

Cheers Pno

No probs. It's just a small amount to say thank you.

What is the relationship (professional, of course) between HM & PM? Does one of you manage the hardware and the other decide on the playlist or what?

You must have followed the Amazon.com (US website) onto Amazon.co.uk to purchase the CDs, Alan as there hasn't been any CD sales from click-through links at all this year ... :(

HM is a 'Guest DJ' here at S.A., Alan. Compiling sessions and special programming as and when, which in turn are played.

I'm responsible for the day-to-day playlist and programming and the occasional session of my own. All of the hardware, bandwidth, and servers are owned, run and paid for by myself.

Ah, apologies Alan.

Indeed, many thanks for the PayPal donation - greatly appreciated !! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

S.A. is an 'Amazon Associate' and as such, any CD's that are purchased from a 'click' on the CD image on the front page of the website's 'Now Playing' page mean a small percentage of the sale is credited to S.A.'s Amazon account.

Ahh right. Yes, I click on the album cover - that takes me to Amazon USA (useless for me) and from there, I extract the album info, go to amazon UK and order it.

However, I also check out the bands web site. If they have shop, I will try and buy from there first. I got all my IQ albums from GEP for example.
