Title: Dream Theater live in Glasgow

Dream Theater at the Braehead Arena, Glasgow, 11th Oct 2007

Wow ! What can I say ??

It has to be one of the best gigs I've been to - just blew me away.
The excellent musicianship & virtuosity enthralled me - they rocked too !! (as you would expect !)

7 years have passed since DT last played in Glasgow and looking at the audience they've got a lot of new fans - long may that continue.

Symphony X were the support band & did an excellent job, playing tracks from their latest album "Paradise Lost". Russell Allen (lead singer) wore a T shirt emblazoned with a St Andrew's Cross especially for the occasion - went down a treat !!

DT played a mixture for tracks new & old, with some sure fire favourites in there.
The Dark Eternal Night, Constant Motion & In the Presence of Enemies from Systematic Chaos.
As I Am & Endless Sacrifice from Train of Thought.
Surrounded from Images & Words.
Root of all Evil, I Walk Beside You & Panic Attack from Octavarium.
The encore was a medley Trial of Tears, Finally Free, Learning to Live, In the Name of God & Octavarium.

I've undoubtedly left some out but these were particularily memorable.

Blazing guitar & bass work from John Petrucci & John Myung - stunning speed & dexterity.
Amazing keyboards from Jordan Rudess (cool keyboard on a guitar strap at one stage !).
James LaBrie - Brill.
Ah but .. then there's Mike Portnoy on his phenominal "Mirage Monster" - what a drum kit - what a drummer !! - Pic attached
A real showman with amazing talent - a joy to see him perform.
I'm sure he put on a Rangers shirt for the encore !

They received a standing ovation from everyone at the end.

My recommendation - catch them when they come to your town/city ! I sure look forward to seeing them again !

Oh ! .. and another thing - they seem like real nice guys !

10/10 ;D ;D ;D

Many thanks for the write-up, Jim. It sounds as if it was an excellent gig !! Another great group that I'd love to see live sometime. 8-)
